Why My Home Isn’t Beige (And Never Will Be)

I have a confession…

Neutral homes stress me out a little.

All the beige.
All the white.
All the “this is calming” energy that somehow makes me feel like I can’t sit down without messing something up.

Like… where do you put your drink??

There are way too many colors in this world for me to pretend I only like three of them.

So instead, I’ve created a home that feels more like:

  • a storybook

  • a little bit of a circus (in the best way)

  • and a place where personality wins every time

My Version of a “Circus Interior” (Stay With Me Here)

Not actual clowns.

Not chaos.

But a space that feels:

  • playful

  • unexpected

  • full of little surprises

Think:

  • bold patterns

  • layered textures

  • colors that don’t technically match… but somehow work

It’s the kind of home where people walk in and go:

“This feels like YOU.”

And that’s the goal.

The Wellness Flow of a Colorful Home

Here’s what I didn’t expect:

A bold, colorful home is actually… calming.

Not in a quiet, spa-like way.

But in a:

  • this space lets me be myself

  • I don’t have to be perfect here

  • this feels lived in and loved

kind of way.

That’s Wellness Flow.

Not sterile. Not staged.

Just real.

Colorful Living Room Ideas (That Actually Work)

If you’re not ready to go full “storybook house,” start here:

1. Start With One Bold Anchor Piece

Everything else can build around that.

2. Mix Colors Like You Mean It

Stop asking:
“Do these match?”

Start asking:
“Do I like both of these?”

That’s the whole system.

3. Add Personality Through Pillows + Throws

This is the easiest way to test bold color without commitment:
👉 pillows
Layer them. Mix patterns. Don’t overthink it.

Eclectic Home Decor DIY (Low Pressure, High Personality)

You don’t need a huge budget to make your home feel unique.

Some of my favorite ideas:

✂️ Frame Things That Make You Happy

  • Postcards

  • Kids’ art

  • Random prints you love

Crochet Your Own Decor (Of Course)

  • Crochet pillow covers

  • Small blankets

  • Table runners

It’s slow, creative, and adds something no store can replicate.

Paint Something Unexpected

  • A side table

  • A bookshelf

  • Even a lamp

  • An empty canvas

Nothing has to stay the color you bought it in.

Small Cozy Home Aesthetic (But Make It Fun)

You don’t need a big space to make an impact.

In fact, smaller spaces feel even better when they’re:

  • layered

  • colorful

  • intentional

Cozy Corners Matter Most

Create one spot that feels like:
👉 your place

That’s your reset zone.

Let’s Be Honest About “Perfect Homes”

Great guide for the messy in us!

Somewhere along the way, we were told:

Homes should look:

  • clean

  • minimal

  • neutral

But if you actually live in your house (especially with kids… or let’s be real, grown boys 😅)

That’s just not reality.

Your home should feel like:

  • laughter

  • messes

  • comfort

  • personality

Not a showroom.

Your Permission Slip

If you’ve been holding back because:

  • “What if it’s too much?”

  • “What if it doesn’t match?”

  • “What if people don’t like it?”

Here it is:

👉 Do it anyway.

Paint the wall.
Buy the colorful rug.
Hang the weird art.

Because at the end of the day…

You’re the one living there.

The Real Wellness Flow

A home that reflects you is a form of wellness.

It’s:

  • freedom

  • creativity

  • comfort

It’s walking into a room and feeling like you can exhale.

And maybe…

That’s better than beige.
