Rewatching Keeping Up With the Kardashians in My 40s Hits… Very Different
I’ll be honest…
The first time I watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians, I could hardly stand it.
The voices.
The drama.
The “what are they even talking about right now?” energy.
And if I’m being really honest?
There was probably a little jealousy mixed in there too.
Back Then: Full-Blown Boy Mom Mode
The first time around, I was deep in it.
Two boys under six.
Another one on the way.
Living in that constant loop of:
snacks
laundry
exhaustion
repeat
So watching a group of women argue about outfits and jet off on girls trips?
Yeah… it didn’t exactly land.
I didn’t have the capacity for it.
I wasn’t watching for connection—I was watching from the outside thinking:
“Must be nice.”
Now: A Whole Different Lens
Fast forward 20-ish years…
I’ve got three grown boys.
A little more quiet.
A little more space.
(A little more time to actually sit down)
And somehow… I turned KUWTK back on.
And this time?
I love it.
Wait… Am I a Kardashian Fan Now?
Something shifted.
It’s not about:
what they’re wearing
who’s dating who
or where they’re flying off to next
This time around, I’m noticing something I completely missed before:
The family.
The way they:
fight (a lot 😂)
say things they probably shouldn’t
and then… come back, apologize, and figure it out
There’s something weirdly comforting about it.
Because if you’ve raised a family—you know:
That is real life.
Kris Jenner Deserves a Moment
Can we talk about Kris for a second?
Because wow.
The love she has for her kids is undeniable.
And I completely missed that the first time around.
Back then, I saw:
the lifestyle
the chaos
the headlines
Now I see:
a mom who shows up
supports each of her kids in different ways
and somehow holds it all together
It hits differently when you’ve spent decades doing the same in your own way.
Still Processing a Few Things…
I will say…
The whole everyone going to the doctor together thing?
Still a little weird to me.
I’m choosing to believe that was for the cameras
But at the same time… it does show something:
They show up for each other.
Even in the uncomfortable, awkward, overly-documented moments.
My New Favorite Routine (This Is the Real Win)
Here’s the part that really matters:
This show has become part of my wind-down routine.
And that feels like a small but important kind of wellness.
Picture this:
A cold, rainy spring break afternoon in Wisconsin
A cozy spot on the couch
My current crochet project in hand
Kardashians playing in the background
It’s simple. It’s calm. It’s mine.
The Wellness Flow of It All
This is what I talk about when I say Wellness Flow.
It’s not about doing more.
It’s about:
finding small moments that feel good
letting yourself enjoy something easy
not overthinking what “counts” as rest
Sometimes wellness looks like:
crocheting a few rows
rewatching an old show
ignoring the laundry for a little while
And letting that be enough.
A Few Cozy Finds (Because the Vibe Matters)
If you’re building your own little wind-down routine, here are a few simple things that make it even better:
A soft, easy crochet starter kit (perfect for zoning out while watching TV)
A cozy blanket you don’t have to share (very important in a house of boys)
And if you’re like me… a comfortable lounge set you’ll basically live in
Nothing fancy. Just things that make slowing down easier.
20 Years Later…
I’m currently on Season 3, Episode 9…
Which means (the good news):
I’ve got about 20 more seasons to go 😂
But honestly, I’m not rushing it.
Because this time around, it’s not about keeping up.
It’s about slowing down.
Seeing things differently.
And realizing that sometimes…
An old show, a quiet moment, and a crochet project in your lap
is exactly what you didn’t know you needed.
