You'd better find somebody who watched it because you were going to need the recap.
And then there was Thursday night.
You know the night.
You knew FRIENDS was coming on.
You had your snacks.
You had your beverage.
You found the couch.
And then...
THE THEME SONG STARTED.

And suddenly the entire week had been worth it.
Today, we can watch an entire season of FRIENDS in approximately three days.
But back then?
We waited an entire week for the next episode.

WE WAITED ALL SUMMER.
Honestly, I'm surprised we survived.

Why I Still Love FRIENDS at 49
Maybe it's because I've gotten older.
Maybe it's because life moves so ridiculously fast.
Maybe it's because I now have enough years behind me to actually appreciate nostalgia.
But when I watch FRIENDS now, I don't just see six people sitting around Central Perk.
I remember me.
I remember being younger.
I remember Thursday nights.
I remember laughing at jokes that still make me laugh.
I remember talking about episodes with friends.
And I remember a time when the biggest problem in the world was waiting until next Thursday to find out what happened.
Now?
Life is busy.
Work.
Family.
Bills.
Laundry.
Groceries.
Appointments.
Passwords I can't remember.
Why did I walk into this room?
What was I doing?
Oh...
I came in here for coffee.
